D900.jpg

I just got a Samsung D900i but it doesn’t sync with isync as isync only syncs with the D900.

I modified the isync plugin so here’s how to get it going…

  1. Download this file and unzip it, you should end up with a folder called Samsung-D900.phoneplugin.
  2. Go to applications, isync and right click or control click and go to ‘show package contents’
  3. Open the isync Contents folder, then Plugins, then ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice, then Contents, then Plugins.
  4. Drag my Samsung-D900.phoneplugin file into that folder, next to all the other phone plugin files. it will ask if you want to overwrite the existing folder, say Overwrite.
  5. Make sure bluetooth is turned on on your phone (applications bluetooth) , and on your computer (preferences/bluetooth). Choose add new bluetooth device under the bluetooth preference pane on your macintosh and add your phone. Open isync and it should now sync with your new D900i.
  6. Note: if you want to mount your  D900i as a USB drive that is a separate issue, look here.

If you find this helpful please consider a link to this site! Thanks.

Some people have asked for a G600 version. No idea if this will work but you could try this one. It’s just the D900 with the name changed. Same instructions as above but I’d delete the D900 plugin as it may clash with his one. Let me know if it works!

  1. Jools says:

It’s not necessary or advisable to put your plugin *inside* the iSync application.

Just make a folder in “[Your Mac HD]/Library/” called “PhonePlugins” and drag the .phoneplugin folder in there. iSync automatically loads any plugins stored there.

The Library/PhonePlugins/ folder is the official place Apple provides for third-party plugins to live, and won’t get overwritten everytime that iSync is updated.

  2. wayne says:

It doesn’t matter if it gets overwritten because hopefully the next update of isync will include the  d900i!

U’r just f***** great mate! thx

  4. Billy says:

THANK YOU!!! I ordered the D900 but got D900i. Nothing wrong with that, except that iSync wouldn’t have it. After a quick web search, I found this site. I followed Jools’ instructions, placing your folder in the Library and it works perfectly. iSync synchronised the address book and calendar without a hitch. I can recommend this “patch” to anyone with the D900i.

    I am using a 12″ PowerBook, 1.5GHz, running Tiger.

  5. You’ve made my day!

Thankyou so much, if you’ve ever in Preston (uk) i’ll buy you a beer!

i made the sync, and that’s great. Thanx wayne. But I have a problem – i want to connect the phone D900i on internet using the bluetooth, with my macbook. Does it works? How can i do that? Is that possible? HOW ?

    Hi

It works great!! Thank you very much!

    Hi,

I’m glad that I’ve found this Plugin. But it doesn’t really work when using USB-Connection. Is there any hint to solve this problem?

    Greetings

  10. Wayne says:

You are right, this only works for bluetooth. There is a separate plugin required for the USB-connection to allow your phone to mount as a USB drive see the separate entry on this site. Even then, isync only works via bluetooth, not USB.

  11. DarkHappyAffe says:

    hi,

found a little problem with the isync-plugin: birthdays are synced as normal date and not as a birthday on the d900i. is there a way to fix this?

    regards

  15. RJE says:

Now it works!. Thank you so much.

  16. Thomas says:

@RJE : How did you do to make it work? Thx

iSync detects my D900i but tells this device is not supported.

  17. Iain says:

I followed the procedure to test it on my Mac. It doesn’t recognise the usb card in my D900. Do you have a solution for the D900 without the i? Many thanks.

  18. Fab says:

Following your instructions with my 900i, and I am able to sync my calendar without issue… however my contacts do not sync and I am getting the same message every time I try: “There was an error getting data from the phone. The synchronization may have been cancelled on the phone.”

Any idea if this might be a setting on the phone I overlooked?

Your solution has helped me a lot so far… thank you so much

  25. Swaino says:

Brilliant! And the instructions are clear, concise and they work. Thank you so much for this wonderful little download. Very much appreciated.!

  26. Stu says:

Brilliant. But here is a tip. Before installing the new plugin (being a good backup person that I am), I put the old one into a new folder and then dragged the new plugin into the folder thinking that would replace it in the correct position. It would not work. So you absolutely have to “replace” the existing (non-functional D900i plugin with the new function one. In other words overwrite it…

    1. Massive THANK YOU!

    2. Re: comments about “the folder not being there”
I was about to post the same comment until I read the directions closer. The folder that you are looking for is in your computer’s iSync application folder NOT in the downloaded folder from this site.

(sorry if I am insulting anyone by spelling this out too explicitly, but when you are tired and frustrated with your phone not sync’ing, it might help)
Within your own Finder window, select Applications, and then scroll down to iSync. Highlight iSync, hold down your control key and then make your mouse (pad) click. You will then get a drop down menu, of which one of the selections is: “Show Package Contents.”

I have followed the instructions but cannot find a folder for the samsung d900. Perhaps the link has been corrupted? Help!

  31. Wayne says:

    See comment above.

  32. xavier says:

thank you very much to share that. I didn’t know the difference between d900 and d900i, and was so desapointed before reading your message! I had chhosen this phone because Ithought it was isync suppoted and for its low specific absorption rate.

  33. Roger says:

    You little GENIUS!

Sorted in 2 minutes – brilliant.

Thank you very, very much and have a good Christmas and New Year.

  34. Jacques says:

This sounds great. Any ideas how to do similar magic for my Samsung SGH-D807??????? I thought they would fix it in Leopard but NO… so sad.

  35. Henk says:

    YAY! Thank you!

  36. Billy says:

Hi again. I left a response on 14 June, thanking you for the plugin. It has worked as a charm since. I upgraded to Leopard yesterday and it stopped working. I tried downloading the plugin again and placing it in the iSync folder and it worked again. Seems that Leopard overwrites the iSync plugins.

It’s working again. Just wanted to let people know, as it’s easy to think that the plugin has stopped working, when it hasn’t.

    Billy

  37. Lucky says:

Doesn’t work for me. iSync says not supported device.

  38. wayne says:

    Thanks Bill!
    Glad it works under Leopard.

  39. wayne says:

Did you do everything just as described. It seems to work for everyone else.

  40. N. Adams says:

How would i go about putting files such as pictures and mp3s onto my d900i? I can only do it on a windows computer at the min, and it does my head in because everything i want to put on my phone..is ….u guessed it… on the mac. If it showed up as a drive all would be fine but it clearly doesn’t. Syncin is no help to me because i don’t need to add contacts or anything like that. Help greatly appreciated.

How can I connect Samsung D900i as a modem?

  44. Thank you so much. Works perfectly. kind regards

  45. Brad says:

Where’d did you get this plugin? I’m looking at the Samsung G600, and I’d love to be able to mount/sync with my Mac. Are there other variants of this plugin, or did you just script it for yourself?

  46. wayne says:

If you want to get the G600 or other samsung phone going, get ‘USB prober’ (comes with dev tools on all OSX installations) to find the model code for your phone.
    Run USB prober.
    Plug in the phone,
    Hit the refresh button.
Look for the entry that has your phone
    Find the line that says:
Device VendorID/ProductID: 0x05AC/0×0204 (Blah Blah phone company)
Email me the Device Vendor ID/Product ID. (eg 0x05AC/0×0204)
I’ll see what I can do.

  47. [...] Note: if you watn to SYNC your samsung D900i that is a separate issue, look here. [...]

woohooo!!! yess it works, thank you so much, i thought i hav to throw it out of the window… :D peace

  49. Jing says:

iSync support for G600 is now possible through 3rd party plugin

  50. Jean-Hugues says:

I’m interested in having USB connection between my G600 and my Mac.
Here’s the one line you requested from USB Prober:

    Device VendorID/ProductID: 0x09FC/0×0904 (unknown vendor)

I’ve saved the whole information, in case it matters, but I won’t post it here.

Anyway, I’ve got a question: why, in mass storage mode, does the phone act differently than a simple USB stick would ?
I understand that Samsung doesn’t want to spend time and money for developing a specific driver for Mac, but why doesn’it show up as a generic USB drive ? Who’s the culprit here, Samsung or Apple ?

Thanks for any information you can give me, and feel free to mail me if the whole USB Prober is useful to you.

    Thank you.
